METECS is an engineering and applied technology company that provides high-fidelity simulation and software development for NASA’s Johnson Space Center. We are seeking an Integration Engineer for NASA’s Gateway Program to integrate Flight Software (FSW) and avionics into automated testing rigs. As an Integration Engineer you will be doing a bit of everything; Sys Admin, Software Engineer, Test Automation, Embedded Systems, Software Debugging, and Operator training. A “jack of all trades” kind of role.
Most importantly, this role requires clever problem solving and troubleshooting across a broad range of technologies, learning technologies on the fly, while also being a team player and daily customer engagement.
This position requires physical presence at the work site at Johnson Space Center and is not open to candidates looking to work remotely.

Responsibilities:
- Integrate Avionics and Flight Software (FSW) into testing rig
- Manage Linux Servers, flight hardware, network equipment
- Automate preparation of avionics for test runs
- Integrate simulations, emulators and flight-like equipment into testing rig
- Collaborate with the test operations team and flight software teams to implement test automation
- Train test rig operators
- Provide feedback of operator and customer needs
- Develop and document test automation modules
- Ensure generated test data artifacts are collected and organized for post-analysis
Required:
- Bachelor's/master's degree (or equivalent experience) in Computer Science, IT Management, Systems Engineering or related field
- Must be a team player with interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- 3+ years of related experience (ex. IT System Administration, Linux/Unix Shell, networking, programming, embedded systems, flight software, avionics)
- Security minded and familiar with best practices in cyber security
Desired:
- Familiarity with common data exchange formats (ex. JSON, XML)
- Version control and software development tools (Git, GitLab, IDEs, debuggers)
- Programming languages: Shell scripting, Python, Go, vanilla JavaScript
- Experience with databases (ex. PostgreSQL)
- Experience with Embedded or Real-Time operating systems and concepts
- Understanding and experience with the full software development lifecycle and requirements development
- Knowledge of Time-Triggered Ethernet (TTE)
- Familiarity with RESTful concepts and APIs
- Familiarity with microservice architecture and API development
