Systems Engineer
This position is for a systems engineer with V&V planning and/or testing execution experience. We are seeking a person passionate about space exploration, who is self-motivated and capable of working with a team to execute a validation planning process and develop integrated testing products as a Gateway Program Systems Engineer. The Gateway, a vital component of NASA’s Artemis program, will serve as a multi-purpose outpost orbiting the Moon that provides essential support for long-term human return to the lunar surface and serves as a staging point for deep space exploration. NASA is working with commercial and international partners to establish the Gateway.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Develop and review Gateway Validation products, including integrated validation scenarios and detailed objectives, using Concept of Operations documentation and coordination with Gateway stakeholders
- Review Hazard Reports and other Systems Engineering and Integration (SE&I) data to support test planning
- Attend Gateway Verification and Validation (V&V) meetings and review validation and testing documentation as directed
- Perform Risk Assessments for validation objectives and test scenarios to be used for test planning prioritization
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering
- 5 years’ experience in systems engineering or a related technical field
- Broad understanding across Systems Engineering Disciplines. Specifically, Systems Engineering and Integration, ConOps Development, Risk Assessment, Test Operations, Assembly and Integration, and Test and Verification
- Software and/or hardware testing experience
- Ability to learn tools and processes quickly
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Desired:
- Prior experience in Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE)
- Experience with large system Verification and Validation planning and execution for aerospace systems
- Knowledge of test procedure development
- Experience with the NASA Systems Development Lifecycle, Life Cycle Reviews, and associated products
